Moon & Sun
How often does the moon dance across a sun-drenched sky unnoticed/
unseen/
unwilling to be exposed by the daylight on that day/
until night – when she is ripped from the backdrop of clouds and rain/
it's never your day/
yours is the night/
a tale of tolerance/
a tale of arrogance/
the tale of the moon and the sun. -

Sex in the Shower
Today you must work
Is all the directive he neededWhatever laziness he has in his affairs
Is not showing up hereMuscles in his stomach contracting
Are little proofs of his effortWhere thighs clap thighs
Tiny tidal waves burst to shoreDroplets delicately hung in his hair
Somehow stay thereSloshy eyes of arousal display
His split focus, in and outHere he is sincere
Wholehearted as a worker bee
How dazzling is the male body
The weight it can move when it wantsThe organic, breaking ground
Loosening what’s grown hardAgitates, turns over
Preparing this soil for seedHow it can quiet down and work the earth
Dauntless as water against rock -

Our Lovely Chef
Inside the restaurant,
the immediate goes up on trial,
as the kitchen flames on the grill
bring another smile to our lovely chef.
The joy in his eyes as he hands over the immaculate plate,
sprinkled with a love that has been with him
ever since Abuela sat him on the kitchen counter
to watch her cook her famous and his favorite,
Pink Coconut Hen.
Today these memories run free and eternal through the rainbows of flavors
that come out of his kitchen,
and onto the tables of those
that consider themselves
Pioneers of the palette, the
restaurateurs that favor his dishes,
in the metropolitan area.
